Welcome the Genevieve to Our List of Model Homes
We are excited and proud to introduce you to the Genevieve, our 2018 Metropolitan Builders Association Parade of Homes model. The Genevieve will include 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, plenty of living space, 2nd floor laundry, as well as our special feature, a “messy kitchen.” This unique space is a separate area off the kitchen perfect for storing your small appliances and hiding away all of your prep work.
This beautiful new model was inspired by a home we recently built for Matt Krawczyk and his family… It was even named in honor of his daughter! Our relationship with this wonderful family started over 16 years ago when we built a home for Matt’s parents, so when we asked Matt to tell his own building story with us, he was more than happy to share!
“I met the Demlangs about 16 years ago when they were in the process of designing my parents’ home – my wife met them years later. I was so impressed with them throughout the entire process. It was clear from the beginning that Rod and Colleen were exceptional at their craft, and that their individual talents were a perfect compliment to one another. Rod has an amazing ability to take your abstract vision and make it a reality, and Colleen has such a keen eye for design.
“However, when I first met them, I was most impressed with their honesty. I remember when my parents were meeting with builders, they would often pose the question about including a fully exposed basement as part of their home, even though their lot was not a natural fit for one. Some of the builders appeased them and suggested that they could excavate to get the full exposure that they wanted. When they posed the same question to the Demlangs, Rod was honest with them. He said, ‘I can get you a full exposure, but candidly, I do not think that it will be a great fit for your lot. I think that a partial exposure would be the better option.’ That honesty really stood out to me and my parents – Rod did not just tell them what they wanted to hear. That honesty laid a foundation of trust from the beginning, and 16 years later that level of trust has only been enhanced.”
What was your favorite part about the process and working with Demlang?
Our favorite part about working with Demlang was the people. There are a lot of home builders out there, but, in our opinion, we cannot imagine finding a better combination of people than the team at Demlang. They make the entire process seamless with the Buildertrend application that you can download on your phone. Building a home is a very exciting and personal experience, and the wonderful customer service from the entire Demlang team made the experience one that we will remember fondly for a long time.
What is your favorite room or feature in your new home?
Our favorite room in our new home is the open-concept great room and kitchen. We love all of the natural light, the stone fireplace, the barn doors, and the big kitchen island. We wish we could take credit for designing it, but the room was inspired by Demlang’s beautiful “Dakota” model and is really an adaptation of the open-concept from that home.
What words do you use to describe your new home?
The words that we most often use to describe living in our new home and the home itself are “perfect” and “surreal.” We use “perfect” quite a bit, because we would not change a thing. Demlang took our dream and turned it into a perfect reality. We also use “surreal” quite a bit, because we cannot believe that we get to live in this beautiful home.
What was a “must-have” in your new home?
We had a few “must-haves” in our new home, including an open-concept and a sauna, among others, but our highest priority “must-have” was an open foyer with a vaulted ceiling. We knew that this would be more challenging with a two-story home since you can sacrifice a bit of surface area on the second floor with an open foyer, but the Demlang team was up to the challenge. Demlang went to work on the design and did a wonderful job designing a beautiful grand entrance, while still maintaining surface area on the second level. It is exactly what we envisioned.
What was your reaction to finding out that the Parade model was inspired by your new home? And it being named in honor of your daughter?
We were both humbled and honored when we heard that the Demlang Parade of Homes model was inspired by our new home and being named after our daughter. We feel incredibly blessed to live in our new home, and we cherish the memories that we have already had there with our daughter – like her first birthday party. Our daughter is the greatest thing that has ever happened to us, so it means quite a bit to us to have her connected to the new Parade model.
Thank you, Matt and family, for sharing your story with us! We wish you many happy years in your new home.
