Advances in new construction electrical, home wiring and energy systems have come a long way. Circuit Panels:
Industry standard for residential home voltage is typically 120V. At Demlang Builders, 200V is our standard, ensuring there is enough power running into the house for today’s needs, as well as room to expand electrical systems in the future. In addition, we use a 40 panel circuit breaker, giving you a larger capacity for electrical service, while reducing the electrical load per circuit. Because the amount of electrical hookups up to a breaker is reduced by spreading them over the 40 circuits, when a circuit is tripped, fewer areas of your home will be interrupted by the power outage.
Pre-wiring Set-up:
When planning out the electrical wiring in our homes, we work with our customers to map out anything they may want to add to the home in the future. This not only saves the homeowner money on future projects, but valuable time when they want to add something. We will work with our clients to pre-wire their homes for future improvements, even if they are not a part of your original building plan or budget. For example, if you plan to install ceiling fans in the bedrooms, a home theater system or even a security system at a later date, the home can be pre-wired to add in these items without having to cut into the drywall and run additional wire through the walls, ceilings or attic.
LED Lighting:
You constantly hear the acronym LED and its benefits over traditional incandescent or fluorescent lighting. But what is LED and what does it mean? LED stands for “light emitting diodes” and really isn’t new at all – it’s been around for years, lighting up digital clocks, remote controls, flashlights, traffic signals and more! But, recently they’ve become mainstream for both residential and commercial use. Basically, LEDs are just tiny light bulbs connected to an electrical circuit. They don’t have a filament that is susceptible to burn out and emit heat, rather they are illuminated solely by the movement of electrons in a semiconductor material. Compared to traditional lighting, LED lighting helps reduce the amount of power used, thus saving you money. According to CBS, the average American home has around 45 lightbulbs. If each of these were replaced with an LED bulb, the savings would be nearly $450 a year. In addition, LED lights last longer and are much cooler than traditional lights. This helps reduce how often they need to be replaced and the risk of combustion in your home
Hard-wired Smoke and CO2 Detectors:
When it comes to you and your family, there is no such thing as too much peace of mind. To help keep you at ease and your family safe, all of our homes feature hard-wired smoke and CO2 detectors. The detectors are installed by our professional electrician partners and contain a battery back-up to ensure the device works in the event of a power failure. Detectors are also interconnected throughout the home so that all units will sound an alarm when one is triggered.
Ground Fault Circuit Interpreters:
During the wiring process of a new Demlang home, we set up every system with ground fault circuit interrupters, also known as GFCIs. GFCIs create an electrical path between the power source and a grounded surface, helping reduce the risk of electrocution. When power is exchanged, the interpreter is monitoring current flowing through the circuits. If the current flowing into the circuit changes, even slightly, from the returning current, the ground fault circuit interrupts the power. This is especially important in the kitchen and bath – everyone knows that water and electricity do not mix!
USB Outlet Chargers:
Need to charge your phone or tablet, but the outlet already has other devices plugged into it? Demlang clients don’t ever have this problem. That’s because our homes are wired with outlets that contain USB ports. Now you can keep those devices plugged in and running, while also plugging in your phone or tablet to charge. In addition, these outlets contain a chip that recognizes and optimizes the charging power to your device, thus charging it faster.
